Prayer Ministry
“Prayer is not merely an occasional impulse to which we respond
when we are in trouble: prayer is a life attitude.”
~Walter A. Mueller
Individual Prayer
One of our New Song Family Values is to “Pray according to God’s Word with Passion, Precision, and Purpose.” That is the way Jesus prayed and we know that His prayers were and are answered.
Our personal model for prayer comes from Matthew 6:9-13. It includes:
- Praising and thanking God for who He is and what He has done
- Pursuing the purpose of God through a complete surrender of our daily lives, our spheres of influence, our church, and our world
- Praying dependently, consistently, specifically and expectantly for physical, emotional, and spiritual needs
- Receiving God’s forgiveness for ourselves and releasing God’s forgiveness to others
- Taking particular areas of temptation before the Lord, surrendering to God’s strength and protection, as well as taking authority over the enemy, committing to resist his attacks
- Resting in the knowledge that God’s rule and dominion is working in us and around us
- Relying on God’s dynamic, abundant, mighty, miracle-working and creative power
- Reflecting on God’s excellence, honor, beauty, majesty, and splendor to the world.
Corporate Prayer Times
Part of our vision statement is to “Reach up to God in fervent, faith-filled prayer.” We believe that prayer is a lifestyle, and that as we abide in continual communion with God, we will see the Kingdom of God made manifest in the spiritual atmosphere of our communities as well as our individual lives. As we come together to pray in corporate agreement, we believe that God’s will in our personal lives, church body, city, and world will come to pass through our unity of faith in God’s promises.
“And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.” – Matt. 21:22
City Prayer
We recognize that New Song is only one part of the Church of Nashville. As we contend in faith for Nashville to be changed by the power of God, we also contend for unity within the city among churches. We believe that God will transform this city through the one City Church and not individual congregations. Through Worship City House of Prayer, and the City Church Prayer Network we seek to unite and ignite the one Church of Nashville by lifting a canopy of worship and prayer over the greater Nashville area. Prayer changes things, and we believe our city will be transformed as we unite and pray as the Body of Christ in Nashville. Join us as we lay the foundation and contend for what God is doing in reaching Neighbors, Nations, and generations with the good news for Jesus Christ’s love and power!
“And seek the peace of the city where I have caused you to be carried away captive, and pray to the Lord for it; for in its peace you will have peace.” —Jeremiah 29:7
